Mother's Day Brunch Inspired Party Ideas

Today is April 29 that means it's only 13 more days until Mother's Day!!!

Yayyy Mother's Day is very special day for my family because we have more women in our small family. We only have 6 men in my immediate family, Uncle James, Ray, Russel, and Jermone, my StepDad and my Hubby DJ since there are more women it always look like a football team of us. The last 2 Mother's day haven't been the best for us because we were all separated. Some of us were here in Cali and the rest of us in Louisiana. This year we were all going to be here together so for 2 months I've been planning a huge Mother's day brunch. So in the process of working on 3 parties my family wanted me to take on a Mother's day brunch party. Of course I agreed. What was I thinking I'm already working on 2 parties then I take on another one!!! Well with only 2 weeks left I totally ran out of time and only got a third of my shopping list done. Thank God my family is understanding and don't mind waiting until next year. I wanted to share a couple of my ideas and plans with ya'll.

{Here is a little collage of my ideas and written out plans. As you can tell I'm not an artist at all just look at the bird cage with the floral vase inside haha}

Gold glitter dipped feathers, White Ruffle table skirt and the color scheme, Coral and Aqua

Theme/Concept: Where from the South and we have a ton of sayings and one of them that we use a lot is "Birds of a Feather flock together". Us Thomas girls are always together and a scripture that I like is Psalms 91:4 He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge. So for the theme I wanted "Like birds of a Feather, We belong Together"

Color Scheme: I chose the colors Coral and Aqua as my color scheme with a little Gold.

Setting: I wanted to create a Shabby Chic feel with a little touch of Glam.

Decorations: I want to use a lot of white then have the coral and aqua being used in an Ombre effect as pops of color against the white. I want to create decoration elements using Fabric garland, Floral arrangements, Dollies, Mason jars, Ruffles, Burlap, Bird cages, and  some family Heirlooms. I want to create the element of birds by using white feathers, but not just any white feathers I want to dip them in Gold glitter for a glam feel.

Menu Ideas: I decided on a brunch theme because breakfast is our favorite meal of the day. Were always eating Chicken and Waffles and we always eat breakfast for dinner. So I thought about having Waffles, some breakfast casseroles, muffins, and of course grits. We can not have breakfast and no grits lol!

Desserts: I chose family desserts that we love like Banana pudding, Coconut cupcakes, French Macarons and Madeleine cookies.

Drinks: I first thought Orange juice since it is a brunch but then I thought I wanted the color scheme to play out in the drink s as well so I chose Sandra Lee's Peach Bellini (of course the virgin ones Lol)

Activities: We love to dance, take pictures, watch movies, and scrapbook, so these would be some perfect activities to do.

If anyone is having a gathering for Mother's Day I hope some of these ideas are helpful and I can't wait until Mother's day next year because I got an early start :o)

Pineapple-Lemonade Punch

This punch was soooo good and everyone gave me a lot of compliments on it, but it wasn't all me. I did make the punch the day of the party but all the credit goes to Froggyandthemouse.com. I found the recipe on Pinterest and then it lead me to her amazing blog. She held a baby shower for three very beautiful pregnant ladies and served this punch and everyone said it was amazing. After seeing the ingredients and hearing everyone loved the punch more than the food I knew I had to make this punch. For the party I coordinated the name to something Tinkerbell related just to make it fun for the kids so I named it "Iridessa Icy Lemonade"

Here's how to make the punch:

I cup of Country Time Lemonade Mix
2 cups Cold water
1 can of chilled Pineapple Juice (46 oz)
2 cans of chilled Sprite

Mix all the ingredients together and Enjoy!
Yes it's that easy!

{Parties} Tinkerbell Party

Saturday we celebrated my cousin's 9th birthday party. I finally get to show you the party that I've been working on for months and you get to see all the DIY projects I've been working on at the party. What could go wrong did! The wind was blowing so hard, one of the centerpieces shattered and broke, all the tent labels, plates, and napkins were blowing away and eventually we had to start taping down everything! After almost 2 hours the wind finally stopped blowing. So the party got a late start but when it did start the kids had a lot of fun!

Here is the welcome sign and Invitations
(Lol I had to hold down the invitations nothing was safe with the wind)

The Birthday Banner and Tutu table skirt

The one centerpiece that survived and the kid's setting table.

The menu for the party was a light lunch.

Iridessa Icey Lemonade

I got the recipe for the Lemonade punch on Pinterest.

Click here to see how I made the punch!

The cupcakes were my favorite part of the candy buffet table. I wanted the cupcake to resemble Tinkerbell slippers and I found these cute Pom Pom picks that went perfect.

The printables are from Splashbox Printables and the printables went perfectly with the color scheme.

The Candy Buffet

Garden Worms (Gummy Worms)
Fairy Berries (Chocolate covered Strawberries)
Pixie Pops (Chocolate dipped Pretzels)
Dew Gumdrops (Gumballs)

The red chocolate covered marshmallows were suppose to be "Toadstools" but I completely ran out of time and didn't place the white circles on it. :( I was a little sad but my family said they looked fine.

Birthday Cake

Favors
It wouldn't be a Pixie party without Pixie sticks, right?
For the favors everyone went home with Pixie sticks.

God is good! Everything was going left field but with a little prayer asking for peace and stillness the wind finally stopped blowing and we played fun games, had popslices, and a really good time :o)

I will share family pictures at a later time :o)

Happy Resurrection Sunday 2013

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

I know I'm late with my post and Easter has come and gone, but I have a ton of post just chilling in my draft box that I need to get out Lol. Easter caught me by surprise. I was too busy getting everything ready for my Tinkerbell party that Easter creeped up on me. Next year I will definitely be more prepared because that day is very special to me and my family. The only decorating I got to do was my outside window :( Sad I know. I told Hubby next year I'm decorating the whole house. And at midnight I managed to dye some eggs. I actually like how they came out. The plan was for all of us to walk to the park and after it been sunny the whole entire week on Easter it decides to be gloomy and cloudy, so we stay home and hide the eggs. Then ate at Grams house and took turns playing Just Dance.

My midnight eggs

RJ found the surprise egg! We always hide one
egg with a dollar inside for the kids.

Angel baby eating a Peep!

Egg Hunt!

Sissy and Warrior

We usually have a big dinner on Easter but this year nobody felt like cooking so I cooked El Dorado Casserole and Mom made dessert.

It was so yummy!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter :o)
