{Family Outing} Sissy Birthday Dinner

Last Sunday we celebrated my sissy Shan's 24th Birthday at Farrell's Ice cream Parlour. When we walked in Farrell's it had an old timely feel but with a lot of noise. It was loud, everyone was yelling, laughing, drums beating, and rapping and singing along to Triple Chocolate Brownie Time!!! Lol :0) We laughed so hard and the kid's loved it. Even the hostess attire and Menus had a vintage feel to it and I loved everything about it. The kid's had a lot of fun and really enjoyed themselves. It was so different from other restaurants the kids didn't have to sit down and be quite. They were up laughing, dancing, and having a good time. Even the servers ad management were super friendly and always came and checked on us and played with the kids. Everything was PERECT hands down!!! This was the best restaurant I've ever been too. The food was classic dinner food but oh so yummy! They had a balloon artist that came around to each table and make amazing balloon animals. DJ didn't even know what a balloon animal was, so I asked the balloon artist to make him something related to Minnesota Vikings, his favorite team. So my Teddy got his first balloon animal?!? Well it wasn't quit an animals. Lol :-D If you know the Thomas girls were loud so being at Farrell's we felt right at home. I hope Shan enjoyed her birthday as much as we all enjoyed celebrating it with her.  We Love you Sissy!

The Birthday Girl

First time bringing in the New Year in California
Janurary 2013

Growing up in a small town in Zwolle, Louisiana DJ did not get to experience a lot of things as I did growing up. And after we started dating I then realize why he acted like a Big kid, he didn't have a real childhood and just live life and have fun. Growing up I went on trips and vacations, I tried so many different foods, and played board games. DJ did none of that so when he started dating a City girl it opened him up to a lot of new and exciting things, as he would say it. Since we first got together in 2011 he has had so many FIRSTS and I since this blog is about my everyday life as a new wife trying to balance cleaning, cooking, work and school I wanted to dedicate a portion of the blog to my Teddy's first. I so proud of DJ he was in a box and not open to alot of things but now he's so open and willing to try anything and go anywhere. He thanks me all the time for showing him new things and I just thank him for allowing me too.

Here's a look at DJ many other firsts! A lot of things are going to shock you like what he's never done. It okay because he still shocks me everyday, just like he did last Sunday when he said he didn't know what a Balloon artist was or never even had a balloon animal. Awww you just gotta Love him :0)

  • And last but not least just to be his self! Growing up and even as an adult DJ has said it's has always been whatever his parents wanted him to do or say it was there way or the highway and he felt like he could not be himself and do whatever he wanted to do, but now he's his own Man, a Man of God and is free to feel comfortable in his own skin. And I'm so happy when he says that because he was once a shy, quite man with little self esteem and confidence and now he's talkative, funny, out going and full of confidence :-D

I can't wait to share with you many more of DJ's first and trust me there going to be a lot of them because this year we've getting on a airplane for the first time and going on a cruise for the first time :-D So excited!!!

{Weight Loss} Losing It and Loving It

DJ and I have been both losing weight and Loving it!!! Our jeans are falling off of us and our shirts are no longer tight. Lol
Im so proud of DJ he really has done a 360 since I first met him 2 years ago. DJ would eat candy and fast food everyday, he would not eat any vegtables and only ate one fruit and thats bananas. And the biggest thing that bothered me the most he would only drink soda and Hawaiian punch. No Water!!!  What no water?!?! Im a huge water lover and cant go a day without water but when I was dating my Teddy he told me he didn't even like water :(

But now DJ eats any and every kind of fruit. He had kiwi for the first time and Loved it. He now eats veggies everyday. Yes, DJ now eats vegtables. I know its Amazing!!! Lol He no longer drinks hawaiian punch  and the only soda DJ drinks is Pepsi Max. It has 0 caleries and No sugar. Oh and he now only eats fast food once a month.

DJ still can't believe we eat more now and are losing so much weight. But that's because we make better choices :-D

I will show before and after pictures and the many change we've made in our eating and lifestyle in a future post.

Our Very Own Love Nest

Some of you may know or may not have known but in December DJ and I moved! We didn't move far at all. We now live just 3 doors down from Mom's house where we were living before. It's a small studio apartment so we definitely downsized from once living in a 3 bedroom home but it's Our Very Own Love Nest and that's all that matters. An empty love nest, just a TV, a TV stand, and our bed but it's still ours. Princess at first didn't understand that we were moving and that she was not moving with us but when she found out we were moving only 3 doors down and that she could come over anytime she  wanted she was super happy and said she would come visit us everyday and Yes she does come visit us everyday. That little girl is like our very own daughter and she's our whole universe.

A couple of weeks ago Christina and I went to do a little shopping and run some errands and then we stopped by Target to take a look at their home section for Our Love Nest! lol I loving say that! Instead of our new apartment or our new place. It's a place we can call "Ours" and it's going to be tons of Love fluttering in the arm between me and my Teddy. But anywhos, I'm not a huge fan of yellow (my sissy shan's favorite color) but all this yellow kept popping out at me. So right then and there I decided the colors for our place should be Black, Gray, and Yellow. Christina knows I'm a huge night owl and she found this cute pillow with an owl right next to a yellow pillow. I've been buying items here and there and can't wait to reveal  to you some photos of our decor but until then it's looking lonely and bare :-D

my little kitchen where I spend most of my time :0)

{DIY} How to Homemade Shower head Cleaner

I no longer have to leave my house to buy cleaning supplies thanks to Pinterest. I just now use what I have at home!
When DJ and I moved last month I was grossed out by our new shower head. It had so much grim and hard water stains on the shower head it was disgusting. I was like how did someone shower with this on there shower head I was grossed out and had to get it off. I took some comet and began to scrub and scrub but it wasn't coming off, but I knew where to turn to... Pinterest! My new Best Friend Lol :-D

I found this amazing pin showing that all you need is Baking soda and White vinegar and Ta-da it was Finally clean!!! If you want to see how you to can too make your own Shower head cleaner then head over to Frugally Sustainable and find many other help home tips.

1/3 Cup Baking Soda
1 Cup White Vinegar
1 Large Plastic bag
1 twisty tie

1. Mix the baking soda and white vinegar in the bag over the sink. Make sure you pour the vinegar in very SLOWLY! I didn't and it was explosive! Lol

2. Place bag over shower head and make sure the shower head is all the way in the mixture. mines wasn't at first and I had to fix it.

3. Let soak for 2-3 or over night.

4. Then wipe off the shower head and Ta-da!!!

Should I or Shouldn't I? ...Cosmetology School

On Martin Luther King Day, My cousin, Brandee asked me to do her hair and I was pretty excited too. While doing her hair it brought back old memories of Cosmetology school. I never did finish Cosmetology school and really regret it. I never wanted to have any regrets in life but that's one regret I do have. You need 1600 hours to complete Cosmetology school and I completed almost 600 hours. Even though I don't have an desire to do hair anymore (that passion has deflated and popped Lol) But I honestly hate quitting anything and wish I could have stuck it out and completed my hours and passed the Exam to reserve my license.
So on days like this I ask myself Should I or Shouldn't I.

I stopped going to Cosmetology school for 3 reasons. One was the transportation. It was hard for me to get back and forth to Cosmetology everyday. We went to school from 8 am until 4 pm. Yes literally all day It's like having a job. My second reason was trying to work part time and go to school full time. At the time when I was going to Cosmetology school I was working at Victoria's Secret part-time. I would go to Cosmetology school all day then work a night shift at Vicky's. Talk about tiring! So in order for me to continue cosmetology school I quit my job. They were so understanding and said they would hire me back anytime I was ready to come back. (And yes, I did go back and ended up working for Victoria's Secret for 5 years). My third obstacle was I have a condition called Palmers Hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating. Having Hyperhidrosis has affected my life in so many ways and has stopped me from reaching my potential. I'll talk about living with Hyperhidrosis in a later post. Anywho, after I worked out my transportation issues and my employment issues I felt everything was working it's self out, but then after module 1 and 2 it was module 3. Time to work on actual clients. I got so nerves! I was scared to work on people I didn't know, complete strangers. I normally only do hair and makeup on people I know because they know my condition and are perfectly fine with it, but working on people who I didn't know gives me knots in my stomach. So before I could let someone see my hands and equipment all sweaty I quit school. After I left school both my cosmetology teachers kept asking me to come back and said I one of there favorite students. That would make me so happy to hear but I still didn't go back.

I'm now going to school for Business and Child care. I always wanted to own my own Beauty Bar so that's where the business aspect comes into play and I love children and passion about Foster care, so I want to do something positive for foster care children or become a social worker. I use to want to be a teacher but after volunteering for a day care for 2 years, teaching Vacation Bible school for 2 Summers in a row, and being a Nanny for 4 years I realize I didn't have as much patience as I thought I did. My family and DJ say I'm great with kids and have a lot of patience though.

I apologize for the extremely long post I just wanted to get a lot off my chest. I've just been asking myself Should I or Shouldn't I return to Cosmetology school?
